There is only one true Essiac
Beware of counterfeits
By Xania Livia - February 2003
This Essiac madness of everyone claiming to have the essiac formula has to stop as this is exactly what Nurse Rene Caisse feared would happen to the Essiac formula. If it was simple enough to sow the seeds and harvest the crop each year to make Essiac, then Rene Caisse would have given the Essiac recipe to the public back in the 1930’s. The Essiac formulation it is NOT that simple as there are certain herbs in the formula that require specific growing and harvesting practices before they can be used for blending. The Essiac recipe is ONLY a small part of the complete Essiac formulation.
In addition, for today’s standards, Mr. T. P. Maloney, President of Essiac Canada International will have the herbs tested for quality before they are even considered for blending. If the herbs are not up to standard then the herbs are not used in the formula. T. P. Maloney has in the past shut down production due to 18 tons of herbs not passing the grade. The growing and harvesting practices are a very important process in the Essiac formulation.
Essiac is NOT a generic word to be used to describe herbs that are blended together. Essiac is a Canadian trademark name identifying the formula Rene Caisse used in her clinic and is the herbal formula she legally signed over to the Resperin Corporation in 1977. As of 2002, this proprietary formula is now manufactured ONLY by Essiac Canada International.
It is not all about a recipe that makes an herbal product Essiac. It is about the Essiac formula which requires strict growing and harvesting practices for the herbs used in the formulation. All other products being sold on the market as an Essiac product are:
Confusing the public with multiple pseudo-type essiac products which diminishes the quality and credibility of Rene Caisse’s Essiac.
Financially profiting from the misuse of Rene Caisse’s identity and her life long legacy to promote their product as Essiac Even though Nurse Caisse passed away from complications of a fractured hip at the age of 90 in 1978, using her identity and history to promote their product is a form of identity theft.
Illegally using the registered trademark name of Essiac misleads the consumer into thinking they are purchasing a formula researched and promoted by Rene Caisse.
Jeopardizing Rene Caisse’s Essiac from being removed off the market altogether for NOT abiding with government adverting regulations and by making false medical claims for Essiac, even though these business’ erroneously believe that by having a medical disclaimer on their web sites will provide them with immunity from legal prosecution.
By falsely retailing their product as Essiac, these businesses not only financially profit from the false sale of Essiac, but they also parasitically benefit from the business efforts of Essiac Canada International, who is the only company that takes the time and revenue to do massive and very expensive advertising campaigns to educate the public on Essiac In addition, Essiac Canada International is the only company that gives back to the public by reinvesting time and revenue to promote natural health care at accredited educational institutions, facilitates research on essiac and other natural food alternatives, and to promote the benefits of natural products at health conferences world-wide.
Essiac ONLY comes from Canada and is ONLY manufactured by Essiac Canada International.
Note: Today under the legal guide lines of Health Protection Board of Canada (HPB) and the USA Food and Drug Agency (FDA) Essiac is retailed only as a food supplement.
