Essiac Insight
How
to identify the correct Essiac formula
The facts to help protect you and
your family
from unregistered and possibly harmful products
flooding the internet market.
1. Nurse Rene Caisse’s Essiac formula is a Canadian herbal product
registered and licensed with both Canadian and USA government agencies
and is manufactured only by Essiac Canada International.
2. The legal paper trail for the Essiac formula
is from Nurse Rene Caisse (1926) to the Resperin Corporation of
Toronto, Canada (1977), to Essiac Products Inc of New Brunswick,
Canada (1995), to Essiac Canada International of Ontario, Canada
(2002).
3. There are many internet sites falsely using the
Essiac trademark name and Nurse Caisse’s history to retail their
products to the public. Should you take the time to investigate,
you will notice these websites DONOT show a legal company name.
These internet businesses have not registered their herbal products
with the proper government agencies and are flying under the Food
and Drug Administration’s radar, selling herbal products to the
public not licensed for safe human consumption. Just because you
can buy it on the internet doesn’t mean it’s legal or safe to use.
It just means the government hasn’t caught up with these internet
businesses yet.
4. Essiac Canada International is a legally registered
business which has registered Nurse Rene Caisse’s Essiac with Health
and Welfare Canada and the USA FDA for legal public sales. If it
is not legally registered and licensed then it is not Essiac.
5. Essiac Canada International must legally test their herbs before
they are even blended into Essiac and these lab results must be
made available to government agencies for inspection. This is for
your protection against biological and chemical contaminates.
6. Essiac Canada International must test each packaging
lot - meaning so many bottles within a packaging run - after the
product is bottled. These lab results must also be made available
to government agencies for inspection. You will notice a lot number
on the side of each bottle. This is an identifier code to ensure
the product is safe for consumption. This is for your protection
against biological and chemical contaminates and to ensure the product
contains the proper ingredients.
7. Essiac from Essiac Canada International must have a product label
registered with Canadian and USA government agencies. This label
must show (i) the legal company name and address, (ii) the dosage
requirements and (iii) the supplemental facts on the side of the
bottle. Any changes to the label must be re-registered with the
proper government authorities before the product can be sold on
the market. This is to help rule out counterfeit products not legally
registered that may be unsafe for consumer use.
8. These manufacturing and labeling laws are designed
to protect the consumer. Do not purchase products from internet
dealers who have not registered their products with the government,
as this prevents businesses from taking the proper safety measures
to ensure their products are legitimate and safe to use. Keep in
mind the internet is a new marketing Mecca and government agencies
controlling food and drugs products are presently doing a major
clean up of all unregistered herbal products – they just need more
time to locate these types of businesses undermining the regulatory
system.
9. Health Canada through the Competition Bureau
of Canada and the US Trade Commission through the US Food and Drug
Administration are presently investigating deceptive trade practices
of unregistered businesses and unregistered products throughout
North America. In the mean time, you the consumer must be more vigilant
of these type of web sites promoting products not registered with
the proper agencies.
